Feast for one

Break things down into what you can do and than you can eat the whole meal. But when the feast is there of course it’s tempting because your eyes are bigger than your stomach. What happens when you look at the whole feast, you think about all the things your going to eat. You think in large quantities of how to load your plate up. After you add a bit of each your plate is overloaded and your stomach, well that is about to suffer hard. As you eat everything on your plate at first it’s appealing and tastes magical but then you begin to get full fast. The more you eat the fuller you get until finally your stomach can’t handle anymore of the food. But what’s left on your plate? Is it half full still? Is it 3 quarters? Did you finish every bite? And if so what about the rest of the feast laid out? How will you finish this? After all its your banquet made by you for you, does the food go to waste? Does it turn into left overs? How much more can you actually eat? Will you even be able to finish it?

Think about this banquet as your life. All of these different pieces of you are part of your life, your job, your relationships, your hobbies, etc. Now what happens when you stuff yourself on one of these things and never get to the others? What if you are working into the unknowns in your life and already have a full plate with what you have now? How can you make sure to finish everything without having the food spoil?

Learning to prioritize is a huge thing that I still am learning. As I begin to venture into the next phase of my career I find myself becoming overwhelmed. Why? Because I am thinking about everything that I want to incorporate into the new business and not utilizing what I currently have that’s working for me. Like for instance I thought okay well if I open this place I will need this, this, and this, but how will I make the schedule work for these things? I will then need this and this in order to incorporate it. I create more and more work for myself with 1. A lack of experience in said subject and 2. Lose touch with the reason I can expand and what has made me capable of such growth. I want to add all these things right away but I wouldn’t even know if these things will give me back my investment yet. Which got me to thinking, start small in a thing you are renown for. Then build up from there, it doesn’t all have to be done at once or in a pretty little bow.

Breaking it down into small goals is how you are able to eat the whole feast. When you think about the end goal and everything you want to do or incorporate it’s overwhelming. It can feel like such a daunting task that instead you never follow through with it. When eating a feast break it off into little bites. Maybe you portion out everything at first and understand how many servings you have first. That will then allow you to account for the days you can break it down into along with how many times a day to eat. This is what you do when setting goals for yourself and this is what the workbook I made is all about. Setting daily goals, weekly goals and finally the month goal. I bet if you do this then you won’t cook such a huge feast but instead learn to cook the right amount instead.

I hope this analogy helped you to understand why it’s essential to set goals within time limits. If you don’t set a time limit then you may waste the food or never eat it after the first bite. The time limit breaks things down into, okay I have 3 months to create a space for myself that allows for the things I currently possess in my skill set, and repertoire. That makes everything more attainable because then you don’t panic like I did the other day. When you panic you don’t think rationally, your body is literally trying to create safety so you may do things that are not things you would normally do as to create a safety. Once you have that time limit you break it down into little chunks. What can I do this week to prepare for this. Break those little steps down into time. Okay I need x amount of time to complete y. That way you can prioritize your time appropriately.

When you prioritize also make sure to do this for other areas of your life as well. When you only give time to one area then everything else suffers. That is why balance is so crucial. Strike a balance between all aspects of your life and it will make all the goals seem more attainable. Overloading yourself with only one part will turn eventually to burn out or panic mode. We are beings so we need to nurture our souls not just our careers or our fitness or our relationships.

So what could you do to make finishing the feast that much more attainable? I will be offering my workbook soon after the rebranding. I will make it available for purchase! Yay! Also if you need help with this I will have a life coaching package that will have you and I work 1 on 1 for 4 weeks. This package will be 4 weekly check ins and the workbook to help you set out to reach your goals. The new website will be up in the next month or so and all this information will be on there. So feel free to drop a line and ask me how to get started today! Thank you my friends and get ready to dare to habit!!

Today was a 10!

Hope Ackerly
