Be your Best

Now yes I may have just been voted best in the area I live, but to me being the best isn’t something you achieve, it’s something you embody. How? By constantly staying humble and reaching for more knowledge or people who understand more than you, or do something different than you. It also means finding your own compass, and allowing yourself the confidence to do it at your own speed, style, and way.

But what happens if you don’t get any recognition? This is when you have to look in the mirror and own it. Own that you didn’t get the recognition you want, but that’s it. Feel however you are going to feel about it, and move forward. Otherwise you become dependent on people telling you what a good boy or girl you are. That desperate need for approval, for claps, for a pat on the back knocks you down from being the best, to being someone who just needs others approval and the confidence disappears.

When you need someone else to tell you how good you are at something that’s your low self worth talking. Trust me I get it, I have been working on my confidence for a long time and it has changed dramatically, but I won’t pretend that I am this bad ass confident bitch. But I strive for it everyday. And during this quarantine I discovered that badass, her and I have become quite good friends. All because I went in to discover what was no longer serving me. I spent the quarantine in a depression, fighting my inner demons. And now they don’t give me the grief they once did. Now if I get depressed it’s because I am not taking the leap forward like I would like to, not because someone didn’t text me or call. And to me that is the greatest change I had. And I am so grateful for the wake up call. Facing my insecurities, my challenges was the most liberating thing I have done for myself. It allowed me to become more confident and that allowed me to actually recognize myself as the best. I will continue to strive for more and to be better everyday. That I commit myself to over and over; relentlessly.

So for you what is it you need to be the best in your life? It doesn’t have to be a huge award, it can be just you being the best version of you everyday. Being the best can be something small, by applauding yourself for a job well done, or even giving yourself a gold star for being a rockstar today. The choice is up to you on how you will be the best. It just involves you pushing yourself to achieve whatever it is you want to reach for. So reach for things outside your grasp. It will be the motivation you might need!

Today was a 9. Selfcare day :)
