Faith amongst the roses

Roses have thorns and just like life they are beautiful. They are fragrant and intoxicating in color yet amongst the stems sharp little piercing daggers clutter together. These little prickles are there to protect the flower from being eaten by animals that may be attracted to their lusciously sweet scent. The rose has become a symbol of love and romance. Every color representing something sweet in life like friendship and true love. They are by far my favorite flower because they represent Hope in the face of all things dark. Above all they are a symbol of love in all forms. It represents the journey of obtaining friendships, of love, of family, by conquering the thorns and arriving in the beauty. Because life is full of thorns, every obstacle in our way trying to pierce our passions, prick our egos, and break our very bodies down. And the thing that keeps us striving forward, pushing past the tears, the sweat, and blood is faith.

Faith is not just some religious belief in something higher than us, it is a calling to believe whole heartedly in ourselves. It is the hope that even in our darkest hour, in the pain and horror that we will be okay no matter what. That we will overcome our own thorns and rest easy amongst the soft petals. I look at faith as a knowing, an unyielding belief in whatever it is we set our sights on will come to be. And this is the point in my own life I feel that I have come to. This faith in myself that I know whatever I set my sights to, whatever my desires, I will achieve them and more. Probably not the way I want but nonetheless the way I need.

For those of you who have this need for instant gratification I offer you this; faith. We do not need everything handed to us right now, in the exact moment the thought comes to fruition. It needs time to take root and slowly bud to the surface, It requires your patience and understanding because our natural ability too manifest is a dedicated process. It isn’t overnight successes, its unrelenting faith that it will happen. It’s long nights and days sticking with that very seed we first brought up in our conscious mind and watering it. Taking care of it with love and devotion until finally it blooms into the most dazzling rose. And even then much care is required to tend the unruly beast because without consistency or vigilance it could wilt just like that. It is the faith that keeps our fires going, the passion stewing inside. It is faith in the impossible that we reach the heights our minds can’t even begin to comprehend.

What is it you believe in? Do you waver in this belief? It’s okay if you do. We are always tested with the thorns of our lives to see if it is truly your desire or not. Those thorns represent every ounce of dedication you have to the process. They are the lessons needed to see if you will persevere or succumb to the pain. Do you have faith enough that you will make it? Do you want it that bad? What is your why for believing in the impossible? For believing in this very thing you want to achieve. Do you have a dream that you will be the first man on mars or the first female president? Maybe you dream about opening up your own ice cream shop. Whatever your dream with faith and action anything is possible. Even when things seem impossible, there is always a way out. Don’t give up on yourself.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? Where would you like yourself to be? Do you have a passion to own a tea shop and serve no bullshit tea? Take a minute and smell the roses of your desires, and dance with the thought of where they lay. It may inspire you to do something you wouldn’t have before, to open your door and say fuck the 9-5 I’m opening up an online bookstore. If there is a will there is a way. You just have to know your why and what it is you wish to bloom to life because laying seeds is easy. But to get them to grow and blossom now that is the journey of a lifetime.
